Call for Volunteers: Council Camp and ScoutCon Weekend

Event Description

Shining Waters Council will host a Council-wide Camp during the weekend of June 1-3, 2018, at the Orangeville Fairgrounds. 
In order for this to be another highly successful and fun weekend, we need volunteers to help plan and run events throughout the weekend.
In particular, we need our youth to get involved in the program planning and delivery.  We ask that all Scouters reach out to our youth, and for those interested please send contact info including email to Camp Chief Alan Bray at no later than 5 pm, Wedensday, December 20th, 2017.
The Shining Waters Council Key 3 and Council Service Team would like to invite you to our first-ever Scouter's Conference, also known as ScoutCon! 
  • Date: June 2nd, 2018 (During the Council Camp)
  • Time: tentatively 10:00am - 6:00pm 
    • a more detailed schedule of the conference will be shared closer to ScoutCon, with specifics as to which workshop will be running at which time
  • Location: Orangeville Fairgrounds
What is ScoutCon? 
  • The main purpose of ScoutCon is to help onboard new volunteers with everything that they need in order to be part of our big Scouting family. For experienced volunteers, they can catch up on all the hot topics and news that's going on. 
  • It's a great place for everyone to mix and mingle, meet new friends that may share the same challenges as you, and catch up with old friends! 
  • Presented in a workshop format, let us help you connect with the right resources and the right people to answer all those burning questions that you might have. 
Who can attend? 
  • all Scouters and youth in leadership roles 
  • this workshop is free for all attendees, as it is subsidized by Council
  • A link for registration will be shared in mid-August 
What are we expecting? 
  • Workshops on all kinds of topics, including: 
    • The Canadian Path - discussion workshops with information and resources to take away 
    • Compliance - so we can get you active and on the floor; we will have area interviewers ready to meet you 
    • Respect in Sport - we hope to have a computer lab set up, in which you can complete your RiS on the spot! 
    • WB1 Training 
    • WB2 Mentor Model 
    • Popcorn Campaign 
    • STEM 
    • Youth Training Program - the revitalized "Fast/Flex/Focus" 
    • Recognition - for volunteers and youth
