Chief Scouts Award

The Chief Scout's Award was created in September 1973 by Governor-General Roland Michener, who was then Chief Scout of Canada. The Award is the highest badge a Scout can earn and recipients are recognized around the country as being leaders in their own Troop and community. Scouts may earn the Chief Scout's Award after completing the requirements, as listed HERE (Click). They are evaluated on their achievement by their leaders and fellow Scouts. After moving on to Venturers, they have three months to complete any remaining requirements for the Award.

Recipients of this Award are presented with an emblem by their Troop Scouter at an appropriate time and place. They will also receive a certificate at the Region's annual Youth Recognition Ceremony.

For Shining Waters Council, a Youth Recognition Ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 16th, 2018, location TBD.  Recipients of the Chief Scout's Award, Medal of the Maple, and Order of the Silver Key for the 2017-18 Scouting year will be invited to attend.

For members who have achieved their Chief Scouts Award, Group Commissioners are to ensure that the award is entered into the recipient's MyScouts.ca profile no later than May 19th, 2018.

Scouts Canada, the country’s leading youth organization, offers challenging programs for boys, girls and youth age 5-26 in thousands of individual groups in most cities and towns across Canada.
